A Cup of Tea at the Bar
You don’t need to lose your values to fit in.
And being faithful doesn’t mean judging others.
Some of my friends drink. I don’t.
But I’ve shared tables with them, laughed with them, and had real conversations.
While they drank alcohol, I sipped tea.
Because tea, too, is a drink of connection.
🎭 One Night, One Lesson
One day, my cousin asked me to come with him.
I didn’t ask where. I trusted him.
Turns out, we ended up at a bar.
He ordered a beer.
I looked at the waiter and said,
“I’ll have a tea, please.”
My cousin's eyes popped.
“Tea? In a bar? You serious?”
I smiled and asked the waiter:
“Do you serve tea here?”
— “Yes, we do.”
“Is it illegal to drink tea here?”
— “Of course not.”
“Great. Then I’ll have a tea.”
My cousin drank like a thirsty camel at an oasis.
I had three cups of tea.
I sat. I listened. I watched.
🧠 And I Noticed…
-
The place started out warm, joyful, full of laughter.
-
But as the drinks piled up, the smiles melted.
-
People raised their voices. Others slurred their words.
-
Arguments broke out. Boundaries blurred.
Some folks say:
“I drink, but I stay in control.”
But that’s the thing —
You never really know when or where you’ll lose it.
Today it’s one drink.
Tomorrow it’s three.
One bad day is all it takes.
And the real question isn’t “How much can I handle?”
It’s: “Do I need alcohol to feel alive?”
🚗 When the Night Ended
My cousin could barely walk.
I drove us home.
He was quiet. I was calm.
I looked at him and said:
“We sat at the same table.
You drank, I didn’t.
You lost yourself. I stayed aware.
If being social means losing control,
then tonight, I was more social than anyone.”
🧭 Final Words
The system loves to mock faith.
It paints believers as outdated, boring, extreme.
But here’s the truth:
Having faith doesn’t make you a judge.
And losing control doesn’t make you free.
I’ll drink tea at your table,
Listen to your stories,
Laugh with your joy.
But I’ll stay present,
Conscious,
Human.
Because the real drink isn’t what’s in the glass —
It’s the clarity in your mind.
