Does Morality Come from God or Society?
Our Answer: Morality Comes from God
Morality is the ability to distinguish right from wrong.
But based on what? According to whose standard?
From our perspective, morality comes from God.
From the very beginning of human history, moral principles were revealed by God through divine laws and the guidance of prophets.
If that had not been the case—
Who would the first human have looked to?
What would he have based his actions on?
The world he entered was full of wild animals, instincts, dangers—
but no moral compass.
If humans had learned morality from nature,
we would have remained like the beasts of the wild:
driven by hunger, territory, and reproduction.
Just consider this:
Lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes—
they’ve been around for millions of years.
And they haven’t developed anything close to moral conscience.
But humans did—
Why?
Because God introduced us to Heaven and Hell.
Reward for those who live with justice and compassion,
punishment for those who oppress and corrupt.
This is what we believe.
This is our faith and conviction.
But let’s also ask:
What does science say?
What Does Science Say?
Modern theories often claim morality evolved from social necessity.
They say:
-
When humans began to live in groups, rules emerged.
-
Some rules became social norms.
-
To survive, people who acted “morally” were rewarded, and those who didn’t were excluded.
According to this view:
Morality = Social survival strategy
Conscience = A side effect of evolution
Heaven/Hell = Myths created to enforce control
This theory suggests divine laws are unnecessary.
It claims moral order is possible through culture alone.
But here’s the problem:
-
Are societies always just?
-
Can morality be shaped by popular vote?
-
If society declares theft acceptable, does that make it moral?
Clearly not.
Because morality cannot be based on majority rule.
It must be based on timeless truth.
And timeless truth comes from God, not the crowd.
Is Conscience Enough?
Some say:
“Forget God, I follow my conscience.”
But conscience based on what?
-
Your family’s culture?
-
Your community’s values?
-
Your political ideology?
-
Your personal benefit?
Without divine revelation, morality becomes subjective.
Today’s wrong can become tomorrow’s trend.
Yesterday’s sin can become today’s right.
Everything becomes negotiable.
But if God sets the standard—
-
Adultery is always adultery.
-
Injustice is always injustice.
-
Lying is always lying.
Eternal morality does not evolve.
It is revealed.
🎯 Conclusion:
Morality comes from God.
From the first human to the last, divine guidance has been sent.
Prophets have delivered not just theology, but ethics.
If morality came from society alone,
we’d still be scratching the walls of caves,
chasing prey through the wild.
But today, we know things like:
-
Human dignity
-
Neighbor’s rights
-
Fairness
-
Honesty
-
Charity
These are not inventions of man—
They are instructions from God.
Morality is not a social contract.
It is a divine covenant.
